Welcome Message From the Founder of Bump

Bump classes have helped me to understand my body mechanics and helped me safely return to exercise after giving birth to my daughter.

Based in Portland, Oregon.
Virtual classes available anywhere.

The idea to create Bump came to Liya Leng (MD, MPH) at the start of the Covid shutdown when social distancing required that yoga studios shut their doors. Knowing how isolating it can feel as a new parent, Liya wanted to create a way for people to connect and to move their bodies. Bump stemmed from this idea and is now a vibrant online wellness center.

Prenatal yoga has been shown to ease physical discomfort during pregnancy and may aid with labor. Postpartum exercise can help to prevent and heal pelvic floor issues and abdominal separation. However, yoga has traditionally been difficult to access for many people of color and for anyone who is economically disadvantaged or does not speak English as their first language.

Bump seeks to alleviate these disparities by providing scholarships to those in need. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about our mission or to donate to our scholarship fund.

I find the live support groups to be relevant and quite helpful. I attended a breastfeeding support group shortly after birth that helped with a latch issue my baby was having. I also just attended a MamaTalks episode with great back-to-work pumping tips!
